Rare pair of George III period Paktong candlesticks with domed and gadrooned square bases and Neoclassical Doric columns .
Paktong, sometimes known as Tutenag, was an imported Chinese alloy of nickel, copper and zinc which, due to its slow-tarnishing nature and silver-like appearance was used for various items of domestic metal-wares more usually made of brass or polished steel.
C 1770's.
These rare candlesticks would make a beautiful decorative addition to any quality interior . Perfect to add an elegant British touch to your home .
Condition; good antique , small tiny dents , one of them seems to have had a solid repair on the sconce at some point-see last pic- , some tarnishing and wear .Solidly made .The candlesticks have a golden tone with a silverish hue .
