RARE Metlzler & Ortloff Porcelain torso figurine of a beautiful Modernist Madonna by Hans Knesl, (1905-1971)
Master Sculptor and Professor over sculpture studio at Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Wien (Vienna Academy of Applied Art, Austria) from 1955-1970 Major public collection: Professor Knesl-Freilichtmuseum.
Hans Knesl was an influential artist mentoring Austria's greatest sculptors in the mid to latter 20th century. As a studio artist in the 1920's and 30's he was employed by the German porcelain and ceramics company Metzler & Ortloff. This hallmark was used for export items from 1923 to 1972.
