RARE Metlzler & Ortloff Porcelain torso figurine of a beautiful Modernist Madonna by Hans Knesl, (1905-1971)
Master Sculptor and Professor over sculpture studio at Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Wien (Vienna Academy of Applied Art, Austria) from 1955-1970 Major public collection: Professor Knesl-Freilichtmuseum.
Hans Knesl was an influential artist mentoring Austria's greatest sculptors in the mid to latter 20th century. As a studio artist in the 1920's and 30's he was employed by the German porcelain and ceramics company Metzler & Ortloff. This hallmark was used for export items from 1923 to 1972. Dear US buyers, starting Aug 29 2025 there will be new tax charges on shipments coming into US from UK. It' the buyer's responsibility to pay the tax; I'll try to select a courier who allows pre-paid tax duty and get back to you with accurate quote once you purchase the item and you'll decide if would like to go ahead.
